Voyage Education Partnership offers a comprehensive programme of Health and Safety training to support education settings, businesses and the wider public in meeting their legal duties and promoting safe, well‑managed environments. Our courses are Ofqual‑regulated and delivered by experienced practitioners, providing learners with the knowledge and confidence to understand hazards, manage risk effectively and contribute to a positive safety culture.

From introductory awareness training through to leadership‑level qualifications, our Health and Safety offer supports staff at every level, including new starters, operational teams, supervisors and managers. Training is available through open courses or bespoke in‑house delivery, enabling organisations to tailor provision to their roles, risks and operating context while ensuring compliance with UK health and safety legislation.

Level 1 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace

The Level 1 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace is an introductory qualification designed to provide learners with a basic understanding of health and safety principles and their role in maintaining a safe and healthy working environment. It is suitable for education settings, businesses and the wider public, and is particularly well‑suited to new starters, young workers and those working in low‑risk environments.

This course introduces key health and safety concepts under UK health and safety legislation, helping learners understand common workplace hazards, simple risk control measures, and the shared responsibilities of employers and employees. It can form part of an induction programme or act as a foundation for progression to higher‑level health and safety training.

Course content includes:

  • The importance of health, safety and welfare in the workplace
  • Common workplace hazards and how risks are controlled
  • The causes and effects of poor health and safety practice
  • Roles and responsibilities under health and safety law
  • How health and safety information is communicated in the workplace 

The qualification is Ofqual regulated and awarded by First Aid Awards (FAA). It is typically delivered over approximately four guided learning hours and is assessed through a multiple‑choice assessment. Successful learners achieve a Level 1 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace, which does not expire, although refresher training is recommended to keep knowledge up to date.

Level 2 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace

The Level 2 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace is a nationally recognised qualification designed to develop a broader and more practical understanding of health and safety responsibilities across a range of working environments. It is suitable for education settings, businesses and the wider public, and is particularly appropriate for staff who require a stronger understanding of workplace safety or who are taking on additional health and safety responsibilities.

This one‑day course builds on basic awareness and provides learners with essential knowledge of UK health and safety legislation, including how risks are identified, assessed and controlled within an organisation. It supports learners to understand both employer and employee duties, the consequences of poor health and safety practice, and the importance of effective accident and incident management. The qualification also provides a strong platform for progression to higher‑level health and safety training or career development. 

Course content includes:

  • Roles and responsibilities under UK health and safety legislation
  • Understanding hazards, risks and the principles of risk assessment
  • Identifying and controlling common workplace hazards
  • The consequences of non‑compliance with health and safety law

Level 3 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace

The Level 3 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace is an advanced qualification designed for those who manage, supervise or hold responsibility for health and safety within an organisation. It is suitable for education settings, businesses and the wider public, and is particularly relevant for managers, supervisors, team leaders and those preparing to take on formal health and safety roles.

This comprehensive course develops a detailed understanding of UK health and safety legislation, safety management systems and effective risk control. Learners gain the knowledge and confidence needed to implement robust health and safety arrangements, promote safe working practices, and manage incidents and accidents in line with legal and organisational requirements. The qualification is applicable across all employment sectors and provides a strong foundation for further professional development in health and safety.

  • Legal requirements for health, safety and welfare in the workplace
  • Roles and responsibilities of employers and employees
  • Safety management systems and their benefits
  • Principles and application of risk assessment
  • Identifying and controlling common workplace hazards

The qualification is Ofqual regulated and awarded by First Aid Awards (FAA). It typically requires a minimum of 18 guided learning hours, usually delivered over three days, and is assessed through ongoing instructor assessment and a written assessment. Successful learners achieve a Level 3 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace, which does not formally expire, although regular refresher training and ongoing CPD are recommended to maintain competence and currency.

Level 1 Award in Fire Safety Awareness

The Level 1 Award in Fire Safety Awareness is an introductory qualification designed to give learners a basic understanding of fire safety principles and their role in preventing and responding to fire in the workplace. It is suitable for education settings, businesses and the wider public, and is particularly appropriate for all staff as part of induction or refresher training.

This course provides learners with an overview of the causes of fire, fire prevention measures and emergency response, helping them recognise fire risks and understand the actions to take should a fire occur. It supports organisations in meeting their responsibilities under fire safety legislation and provides a strong foundation for progression to further fire safety or health and safety training.

Course content includes:

  • The main causes of workplace fires and their potential impact
  • Fire prevention and risk control measures
  • The fire triangle and how fires start and spread
  • Roles and responsibilities in relation to fire safety
  • What to do in the event of a fire, including evacuation procedures

This course builds on basic fire safety awareness and provides a more in‑depth understanding of fire hazards, fire risk assessment and fire prevention and control measures. Learners develop a clear understanding of how fires start and spread, the risks posed by fire and smoke, and the actions required both day‑to‑day and during an emergency. Level 2 Award in Manual Handling – Principles and Practice

The Level 2 Award in Manual Handling – Principles and Practice is a nationally recognised qualification designed for those who carry out manual handling as part of their work. It is suitable for education settings, businesses and the wider public, and supports organisations in meeting their legal duties under the Manual Handling Operations Regulations by reducing the risk of injury associated with lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling activities.

This course provides learners with essential knowledge and practical understanding of manual handling hazards, risk assessment and safe handling techniques. It focuses on helping individuals recognise unsafe practices, apply proportionate control measures, and carry out manual handling tasks safely and confidently in real‑world settings. 

Course content includes:

  • The risks and potential injuries associated with incorrect manual handling
  • Employer and employee duties relating to manual handling at work
