Appropriate Body and Early Career Framework
Early Career Teacher Induction and Support 2025-26
The Voyage Education Partnership works in Partnership with the Appropriate Body for Lincolnshire, L.E.A.D. Teaching School Hub, to support the Statutory Induction of Early Career Teachers.
An ECT’s two year statutory induction period is the bridge between their initial teaching training and a successful career in the teaching profession. There is a core curriculum based on the Initial Teacher Training and Early Career Framework (ITTECF) and, along with the Teaching School Hub, Voyage delivers the Education Development Trust ECT Programme (ECTP). It combines a personalised programme of development, support and professional dialogue with a focus on monitoring and assessment against the Teacher Standards.
The induction programme supports the ECT in demonstrating that their performance against the relevant standards is satisfactory by the end of the process, ensuring the teacher is equipped with all of the tools to be effective and successful.

Quotes from Voyage ECTs
"Becoming an ECT Teacher was a daunting thought, and I was worried about how I would demonstrate and implement the teacher's standards. Little did I know that there was nothing to worry about. With the resources and support provided, I was able to access the help required and develop on my teaching practice becoming proud of my journey throughout my two years of teaching as an ECT. Additionally, I have made wonderful mistakes and memories allowing myself to flourish into the teacher I knew I wanted to become. I couldn't imagine myself being anywhere else."
"My first year as an ECT has been challenging but incredibly rewarding. With excellent mentor support and a nurturing school environment, I have had the opportunity to grow and develop my skills on a daily basis. Having my very own class for the first time has been a special experience and I've truly enjoyed it thanks to the guidance and encouragement I’ve received. I’ve learned so much this year, and I’m excited to continue building on this foundation in ECT year 2!"

What is the Early Career Teacher Entitlement?
Early career teacher entitlement (ECTE) is a 2-year programme that supports early career teachers (ECTs) when they start their teaching career. It’s designed to:
- develop their professional skills
- provide them with the knowledge and skills to meet the teachers’ standards
It includes:
- a training programme for ECTs
- mentor support for ECTs
- a training programme for new mentors (if the school uses a Department for Education (DfE) funded lead provider)
- time off timetable for ECTs and mentors
- regular progress reviews and 2 formal assessments for ECTs against the teachers’ standards
As we begin the next academic year, we are moving into a period where we will be running the original programme for the Early Career Framework (ECPDP) alongside the new Early Career Teaching Programme (ECTP) for all ECTs that register from September 2025 onwards.
As you are aware the Early Career Framework has been revised to ITTECF and will come into effect from September 2025. The Initial Teacher Training and Early Career Framework (ITTECF) covers the training and induction periods at the start of a teacher’s career, combining and replacing the previously separate Initial Teacher Training (ITT) Core Content Framework (CCF) and Early Career Framework (ECF).
Key changes for ECTs:
- Diagnostic tools to help tailor topics teachers need the most support with.
- More content on adaptive teaching and SEND to help teachers support the needs of their pupils.
- More examples for different phases, settings and subjects
- An enhanced focus on literacy and oracy
- A focus on translating research into practice and application of theory in the classroom.
