Voyage Improves Academy Sites

Over the past few months some of our academy sites have had major refurbishments carried out to them.

Both of Haven High Academy's campuses, as well as Park Academy, and Old Leake Primary Academy and the Seedlings Nursery, have been the subject of estate works.

Haven High Academy

A range of works have taken place at Haven High's Tollfield Campus, including newly created classrooms and corridor areas, as well as other refurbishments.

Our Health, Safety and Estates Manager Jon Anderson said: "We were approached by Haven High's Senior Leadership Team in early spring 2023, advising that they wanted to have Year 8 pupils based at the Tollfield campus going forward.

"Together with the team, we pondered over site plans - looking for suitable spaces that we could split to create the four extra rooms, plus a new science classroom, which were required.

"Once we had a plan, we engaged Y M D Boone to undertake the works through a formal tender process. Lindum secured the works and, within a very tight timescale, delivered a successful project on time.

"There were a few snags that needed resolving, as with all projects, and Lindum undertook these over the October half term break.

We are really pleased with the outcome and quality that has been delivered!"

Over at the Marian campus, the corridor which includes the Headteacher's office has been refurbished, as well as some of the classrooms which the corridor also leads to.

Park Academy

At Park Academy, a wall has been removed to make a bigger classroom.

Jon said: "We were briefed by Park Academy Headteacher Kris Radford that the school wanted to create a single space for early years pupils.

"We engaged with Y M D Boone to design, and project manage, with Lindum delivering another successful project in record time during the October half term.

"We are delighted with the final results!"

Old Leake Primary Academy

Improvements at Old Leake Primary Academy and the Seedlings Nursery have included refurbished learning areas, classrooms and toilets - and even a new ceiling for the main hall, which has provided a more modern appearance.

Headteacher Vicki Hardwick said: "The improvements at our academy and Seedlings Nursery have made such a positive difference to our learning environments.

"Our pupils and staff can now come to the academy every day and experience a fresher, cleaner, more modern site which is a real pleasure to work from.

"I am really pleased with the result of the works - it has given our learners the school and nursery they deserve."

Fire Alarm Updates

Jon said: "Over the summer holidays and October half term we also worked with Chubb to upgrade fire alarms to L1 standards at both of Haven High Academy's sites, as well as Staniland's and Gosberton's.

"L1 gives automatic detection to all areas of the building and is the highest level in Life Protection Fire Systems.

"We plan to upgrade fire alarms at Carlton Road Academy, Old Leake Primary Academy, and Park Academy, in the coming months."
