Wygate Park Academy Receives Glowing Ofsted Report

We are proud to announce that our award-winning Wygate Park Academy is celebrating a glowing Ofsted review which again graded the school as Good – and said it may even be Outstanding.

The school, which has won two Primary School of the Year awards over the past three years, was inspected in July 2023.

Ofsted’s report states: “Wygate Park Academy continues to be a good school. There is enough evidence of improved performance to suggest that the school could be judged outstanding if we were to carry out a graded section 5 inspection now.

“Inspirational leaders have high expectations for all pupils.

“Pupils appreciate all the opportunities the school provides for them week-by-week. As one pupil said: ‘You get happier the longer you stay!’”

Executive Headteacher of Wygate Park Academy, Dr Craig Early, said: “Whilst this recognition from OFSTED is certainly something we should rightly celebrate, the deeper image that the inspector formed about our school and community is the real win for us here.

“The report only carries a small sample of what the inspector told us children and parents said about the school and their experiences here. To read the views in the report is something very special - it meant the world to all staff here.”

The report continued: “Across the school community, the sense of togetherness is striking.

“Pupils are friendly and well-mannered, their behaviour is exceptional. The calm atmosphere from early years to Year 6 helps them to enjoy their lessons and do their best. Pupils feel safe and happy.

“Parents hold the school in high regard. One parent, typical of many, said: ‘I will never be able to thank all the staff enough for making my child’s time at this school an amazing experience.’

“Parents of pupils with SEND praise the way that teachers encourage all pupils to reach the highest levels.”

The report also said the school’s leaders had taken many steps to promote a love of reading and establish the academy as a ‘reading school’, while pupils ‘especially value the school library’.

The report said: “From early years onwards, teachers are skilled at identifying and closing gaps in pupils’ knowledge. Teachers know when to teach the knowledge that pupils need.

“Pupils’ personal development is at the heart of the school’s work. They enjoy leadership roles, such as acting as eco-warriors and play leaders. These roles make a real difference.”

Our CEO Emma Hadley said: “As a Trust we are extremely proud of the learners and staff team at Wygate Park Academy who work so hard and achieve so much every day.

“The academy consistently strives for the highest standards, and has created a learning environment and culture which reflect the values and priorities it has at its heart.

“Dr Early and his team have provided the academy with exemplary leadership. We are also grateful for the support the academy continues to receive from parents/carers and the local community - I highly recommend a visit to this brilliant academy!"

The report continued: “Trustees and trust leaders know the school well, providing strong support and challenge.

"Leaders are relentless in their drive and determination. They are always pushing forward to help pupils achieve more in their academic and personal development.”
