Writing Development Strategy - Update

Here, Rachel Sykes - Voyage's Teaching, Learning and Assessment Improvement Lead - updates us on the Trust's two-year Writing Development Strategy.
"As we navigate through the autumn term, our commitment to the Voyage two-year Writing Development Strategy remains steadfast.
"English Subject Leads and educators from Years 1, 5, and 6 recently participated in enlightening sessions facilitated by the esteemed Chris Whitney.
"Throughout these sessions we delved into several key themes, all centred around the utilisation of high-quality and engaging texts.
"Focal points included audience, purpose, tone and register - forming the nucleus of our writing sequences. Participants explored the seamless integration of grammar and spelling into the writing process, as well as editing, underlining its pivotal role in the sequence.
Our exploration extended into the realms of drama and visual literacy, opening up new avenues for creative expression.
"Following these explorations, dedicated teams had the opportunity to plan a writing sequence anchored in their chosen text.
The energy, vibrant exchange of ideas, and collaborative spirit observed during each session were truly inspiring. Many teachers expressed how these experiences have changed their approach to writing planning, infusing renewed enthusiasm into their teaching methodologies.
"We look forward to witnessing the tangible impact of this Continuous Professional Development (CPD) next term.
"The innovation and collaboration shown during these sessions are sure to lead to enriched learning experiences for all."
